The P90X2 Nutrition Plan: One of the reasons that most people fail to achieve positive results in any home fitness program, is that they neglect the importance of sticking to a sound nutritional diet. The P90X2 Workout Program produces significant and dramatic results, but if you don’t stick to the P90X2 nutrition plan in parallel, then you greatly diminish those daily gains made with your workouts. The P90X2 nutrition plan is the most important piece in achieving the P90X2 results you want, and it’s unfortunately where most people fail, they just undermine the importance of a good, healthy diet. I have a very good friend of mine who’s on his first tour of duty with the original P90X workout program, he’s only into his 3rd week and he admitted to me the other day, that he’s already suffering from constant fatigue. He feels like he just doesn’t have the energy that he needs in order to fight through the workouts on a daily basis, and more importantly to be able to sustain for the rest of the day. I know exactly what he meant! I was there myself – I would actually get the shakes, and get light headed, and I was confused because I was following the official P90X Nutrition Plan; so why was I sooo tired, and seemingly always out of energy?
The P90X2 Nutrition Plan does a better job of addressing this, but the key here is that you need to listen to your body, and determine what the right mix of protein, carbs, and fat are that you need to consume on a daily basis in order to perform, and also to ensure that you have enough energy (and calorie intake) to make it thru the day.
My good friend recognized this, and he increased his average calorie count accordingly, as well as combined his diet with other supplements to provide him with the fuel that his body so desperately craved!
What’s new with the P90X2 Nutrition Plan?
There was more thought put into the P90X2 Nutrition Plan - the plan has evolved, and Beachbody recognized that a 110 lb mother of three, a middle-aged man, and a professional athlete are not all going to have the same nutritional requirements. P90X2 Nutrition Plan – Don’t Cheat on Sleep
The P90X2 Workout Program along with all of the Beachbody Products are incredibly intense, these aggressive home fitness programs push your body to the limits - you simply cannot deny your body the rest that it needs! Sleep is essential, not only to allow for muscle growth, but even more importantly, to allow your aching muscles the time that they need to repair and heal themselves. Part of the P90X2 Nutrition Plan is to make sure that you’re body is getting the sleep that it so desperately needs! Sleeping is essential for our bodies…, just like eating and breathing; all the effort spent on your workouts are neglected and reduced significantly without doing the right thing for your body.
A few tips…, try to have a regular sleep schedule, and definitely try to avoid caffeine, nicotine, and/or alcohol at least 4-6 hours before bedtime. Also try to sleep primarily at nights, and avoid taking naps throughout the day, that may interfere with your schedule.
If you’re following the P90X2 nutrition plan, and making the most of your workouts, and finding that your still not getting the results that you want – then lack of sleep could be the culprit, and that’s what’s holding you back and preventing you from achieving positive gains.
Bottom line – follow the P90X2 nutrition plan, but also get plenty of sleep!
P90X2 Nutrition Plan – Combine with Supplements
I’m personally a big fan of the Results & Recovery Drink from Beachbody, and I also use the Shakeology product as a meal replacement tool, because I don’t always have the time to eat, and know that it’s critical when you follow the P90X2 nutrition plan - you just can’t afford to skip meals! I also like the protein bars as well, for meal replacement, and as a snack for added protein and energy throughout the day. I compliment both within my P90X2 nutrition plan.
One note…, Yes - I like the Beachbody supplement products, including the vitamins; but you can also use other protein shakes, bars and supplements that are out on the market as well. My friend who I talked about earlier takes that route, and it works perfectly fine for him, and is completely acceptable with your P90X2 nutrition plan, for achieving positive results.
Other Tips to incorporate with your P90X2 Nutrition Plan…,
Water, water, water….., drink plenty of water folks! Drink water before, during, and after your workouts!
Many people don’t realize that you need to drink plenty of water well before you workout, as most of that water never gets absorbed by the body in time to help you when you exercise…, that is why you need to be drinking water 2-3 hrs before you start your workout routine. It’s critical to stay hydrated, it’s essential, especially if you want to follow the P90X nutrition plan properly. And don’t consume too many sports drinks either…, those are loaded up with extra calories from sugars, and are targeted more for performance athletes – you’ll notice that they’re not actively promoted within the P90X or P90X2 Nutrition Plan. If you don’t use up all the added sugars that can have a negative affect on your diet. It’s best to use sports drinks as a way of replenishing your electrolytes during and after a workout – you can even add water to them to dilute the sugars, just use discretion, and be sure to incorporate into your P90X2 nutrition plan in moderation.
